I have no rare photos of arrests, state terror/ brutality. At least not this time.
All I see is people standing together in solidarity, crying for freedom & Justice.
Every person here requires my attention, my appreciation. I want to caption every notion that goes through the crowd.
They are standing by Damascus gate of east Jerusalem, the merchants selling mint, poultry, bagels, clothing at ridiculous prices for tourists & dwellers. It might be too naive to think that chants , placards, peaceful marches & gatherings will change anything at the harsh atmosphere of oppression & occupation, but I hope their voices will echo & be heard all around the world, leading to shift in public opinion & more international support to a peaceful resolution that will provide equal rights to all the people who live in occupied Palestine & end apartheid. Some of the protesters are holding Hamas flags, I can not identify with THAT, and it does feel a little strange to march under flag of Hamas, Luckily enough, that is an inner political issue between Palestinians & themselves.
The fact that Jewish people with Israeli ID protest side by side with Hamas supporters is a good sign in my opinion. I appreciate their willing to stand by us too. (:
